hiii everyone!! I haven't been uploading frequently but I AM drawing!!! I'm just doing it slowly!
I don't have a premium membership so I couldn't make this a poll, but here's a question!!
What is it you like + dislike about my art! Please be as brutally honest as you want to, I want to use this as an opportunity to get better at what I'm doing. If I know what I'm doing wrong, I can fix it! I promise I won't get angry. This will help me so much!
Please don't say anything about my character designs. I am not looking for character critiques at the moment. I just want to focus on my style for now.

I joined dA on October 29, 2009 on my first account HTFLemyFlippyMika89. I was nine years old at the time (yeah wtf). At the time I was super into Happy Tree Friends and I loved it a lot. It was the only thing I really drew. I got into dA because there was this one fan artist/animator I really liked on youtube had one, and his dA had waaaayyy more content than his youtube. I made the first dA account in october but I didn't even start posting until december of that year ...
My first drawing posted onto dA was this:

I mostly drew traditionally but I didn't have a scanner, so if I wanted to post any traditional art I had to take a picture of it with either a phone or a laptop. My traditional art wasn't much better than my digital.
I kept posting HTF for months after that until I got back into Pokemon, which I've been a fan of since I was pretty young. My art style got rEALLY FUCKING WEIRD.



I decided to mix the Happy Tree Friends style into my art style??? It looked terrible but I thought it was hella nice at the time. After I made this Eevee character after I played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky for the first time, all I really drew/wrote about was her and her friends. I made some really bad fanfictions with no planning or anything at the time about them. You can go hunt for them in my old accounts if you want, they're pretty bad and funny to read. (I wrote them when I was 10-12 years old)
I didn't start putting shading into my art until way after I made my account. I thought it wasn't important haha .... I was really bad at it but I thought I was really really good.



I didn't use any program but MS Paint for a really long time, too ...
I also didn't have many friends at the time, probably because I was a brat and my art sucked a lot.
But eventually I moved accounts because I really hated my username since I wasn't into HTF anymore. I made my JenniferTotodile account in december 26, 2010. I made a lot of Pokemon and Fish Hooks art. I also got into drawing furries, but I didn't really label myself as one.



That was my fursona. She looked terrible and her name was Jennifur.
Around that time was when I started getting more friends and got kind of well-known in the fish hooks fandom (since it was such a small fandom). I met my best friend slaymi around this time as well.
Eventually I finally got into the kirby fandom and my first fan character was Jenzy. Jenzy's design never changed much. Also she used to be a self insert and used to be shipped with Marx and King Dedede.



Yeah. Also, at the time, I started using GIMP, Sumo Paint, and Paint Tool SAI, although I still mostly used MS Paint. Oh, did I mention I used a mouse? uou;;;;
So then I got SAI and made really crappy mouse art in it.

Sooooo eventually I kept trying to improve and stuff. I still used MS Paint though, because SAI was haaaaard for a mouse user like me.



I slowly made more friends, and that was pretty cool! Internet friends rock!!!
I became like 12 years old and got into middle school. That's when my furry phase came back FULL BLAST and I started making stories for my furry characters (who were based off of the people I knew at school). I had a friend who helped me with it but she was a really bad friend so I dropped both her and the furry idea in like the end of seventh grade. The series' name was Dleif-Ochs, which was based on my school's name.



I moved accounts after that and moved to the account I have now. I think it was called WhatASlendidDay at first or something ...?????? Then I changed it to whattas and then to threshercakes. Anyway I kept drawing all of the things I always drew before. Well, at first. At first I drew a large variety of things but eventually it was mostly kirby. Around this time I finally got my first tablet, and my art got waaaayy better to me.



Also around that time I made a character that's still pretty close to my heart: Bridgett. I redesigned her recently and I love her way more now. I used to draw her kirby form a lot but the way she was designed personality-wise and the way I was personality-wise caused some problems in my friendships later on. That sucked a whole lot. ):
Another character I made was Slendid, my cat character who was also a mascot of sorts. Originally she was made to be in my furry story Dleif-Ochs but I thought it was weird since everyone in the story was a feral furry but she was kind of anthro. So I just made her separate. Also she wore a tie and a hat. Which was weird

Eventually I tried BIGGER and BETTER things since I was getting better with my tablet over time. I thought shading was rad and I wanted to make big pieces that people would love. So I made an attempt



idk if my attempt succeeded or not but I'm still proud of that Buttons II drawing I made. It's nice and simple
After that I tried to draw more humans since most of my kirby fan characters were changed to be humans at the time. I got so much better at drawing humans and it makes me really proud of myself!! Also I think around this time I got a new tablet, so that's good too.

Another thing was that I eventually redesigned some of my Dleif-Ochs characters and completely revamped the story, too. Fluffy became Choco, Slendid is still Slendid, Fido is now Donny, and Mino (who I only drew once but is still fairly relevant) is still Mino. Choco and Slendid became strays and now live together, while Donny and Mino have the same owner but they are all friends and go on secret adventures together.



anyways thats it I guess !!! I'm still drawing and I got into drawing madoka magica too. That's a huge wall of text thank you sooo much if you read all of that!! that's really nice and I appreciate it a lot. I made a lot of friends during my time on dA and it's a very sweet thing to remember about. I'll try to post more this and next year if I can, since I still love drawing.
